Another crazy project. Inspired by the UKW Projekt, this is an attempt to build a high end FM tuner with 60s technology. Selective front end, LC IF filter, IF strip and stereo decoder. The only semiconductors are to be in the power supply, level detector and stereo decoder. Only other semiconductor trade off is the LED illumination of the tuning dial.
So, when I came across a wrecked HH Scott R316 receiver (found years ago on garbage day) I knew it would be the basis for this effort. It had a nice, four gang FM tuning capacitor and ample space to accommodate any vacuum technology I would throw at it.
This is the story so far:
end and chassis
IF Strip and Demodulator
Tuning Indicator (EM83?)
